“I like the extreme points of something - Whether it’s extremely round or extremely pointy, I like to see where the edge of something still being wearable is.” proudly says Melitta Baumeister, offering a new concept of fashion that is both minimalistic and extreme. In her studio in New York, the designer works the fabrics as sculports sculpt their pieces, she explores shapes with audacity and studies the techniques of working the fabric: Baumeister reminds a magician of extraordinary, not entirely understandable knowledge that creates garments at the edge of reality. The collections of the eponymous brand are dominated by black, white and other colours in luminous tones which, with extra-volume geometric lines, create a strange and fascinating atmosphere.
